The Consulate of the Republic of Seychelles in Bulgaria Was Officially Inaugurated
Fri, 17 June 2005
The first Consulate ever in the history of the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Seychelles was officially inaugurated on June 17, 2005 with an exquisite cocktail party in the Japanese Garden of Kempinski Hotel Zografski Sofia. Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Solomon Passy handed Mr. Maxim Behar an exequatur as early as August 31, 2004 but the date of the gala opening ceremony was deliberately chosen to be on June 17 as it was the celebration of the Seychelles National Holiday - the Constitution Day (June 18). The event also marked the presentation of a vivid photo exhibition Unique by a Thousand Smiles taken personally by the Honorary Consul during his last visit to the Seychelles. The ceremony started with the speeches of the Honorary Consul Mr. Maxim Behar and H.E. Mr. Mohamed Laala (Ambassador of The Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria), a doyen of the Group of the African Diplomats in Bulgaria. Ambassadors, all the members of the African Group, consuls, attaches, business and media representatives honoured the reception and congratulated personally Mr. Behar.
