Mon, 10 April 2006
The Group of African diplomats heading the embassies of Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, South Africa and Sudan, as well as the Honorary Consuls of the Seychelles Maxim Behar and of Ghana Gospodin Gospodinov, conferred with Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin. They expressed hopes for the issue with the five Bulgarian medics on trial in Libya to be solved soon. The meeting, initiated by Egypt's Ambassador Heba Elmarassi, focused on the lingering case, which anticipates a starting date for re-trial. On the sidelines of the talks, the diplomats discussed with the minister opportunities to enlarge the economic partnership between Bulgaria and African states. The need of opening more diplomatic missions of Bulgaria on the African continent was also covered in the conversation.
