The Group of African Diplomats in Bulgaria Celebrate Africa Day
Fri, 26 May 2006
The Group of African diplomats accredited in Sofia gathered May 25 at the Egyptian Embassy to mark Africa Day. They paid tribute to the achievements of the continent's leaders to address the challenges in the 21st century. May 25 is the day the continent celebrates the establishment of the Organisation for African Unity, which was established at Addis Ababa in Ethiopia on that day 1963. The Consulate of Republic Seychelles in Bulgaria had the opportunity to show the guests some of the exceptional souvenirs and tell the story of Coco-de-Mer, the seed that grows only on the Seychelles and is a national symbol of fertility and prosperity. The special group, taking in diplomatic envoys of several African countries in Sofia, was established in February last year in a bid to enhance the political, cultural and economic relations with Bulgaria.
