President Michel re-elected for a full term

At the end of July 2006, Seychelles held its fourth presidential election since the re-introduction of multiparty politics in 1993. Voter could choose between the incumbent president and candidate of the ruling party James A. Michel, Candidate of the main opposition Seychelles National Party Wavel Ramkalawan and the independent candidate Philippe Boulle. James A. Michel won the elections. He's also responsible for the Department of Defence, Department of Police, Department for Risk and Disaster Management and the Department of Legal Affairs, which on the Seychelles are equivalent of Ministries. Vice-president became Joseph Belmont. He also heads the Department of Tourism and Transport and the Department of Public Administration. A report by the Commonwealth Secretary-General states that the election was credible, allowing for the expression of the will of the Seychellois people.
