On May 26, 2018, the Group of African Ambassadors, Heads of Missions and Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria celebrated Africa Day at Sofia City Garden. The celebration program not only was united around raising money for a charity cause, but also aimed to popularize the cultural values of the countries.
The event was held under the patronage of Iliyana Yotova, the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria. Greetings, regarding Africa Day, were delivered by the organizers and the official guests. Mr. Maxim Behar, Honorary consul general of the Republic of Seychelles in Bulgaria, also took part in the initiative together with representatives of Bulgarian institutions and diplomatic corps.
This year all the representatives of African countries united for a great charity cause. A variety of jewelry, clothing, souvenirs and absolutely delicious traditional foods were sold on the stands in the City Garden. At the same time, magnificent artists were dancing under the sounds of traditional African and Bulgarian music, and experienced speakers were telling compelling stories.
Maxim Behar, in his capacity of Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Seychelles in Bulgaria, welcomed everyone who wanted to learn interesting facts and stories from the islands to his stall. People were taking pictures with him and the very unique Coco de Mer, which grows only on the Seychelles.
Vice President of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova was also present at the Seychelles boot together with many other dignitaries, all African Ambassadors in Sofia and many, many friends.
"Africa One, Africa Unite! Great and historical day for Sofia and for the Seychelles Honorary Consulate General in Bulgaria. We celebrated, we had fun and we made African culture much more popular!”, shared Maxim Behar on his social media channels.
